Birds Birds Birds

The kindergarten classes have learned about the differences between fiction and nonfiction books, and have become experts at picking out "facts" from books that they read and listen to.
Now we will be putting this skill to use, as they begin a research project on Birds.

Each student chose a bird by selecting a small nest with an egg on it, and reading the name of a bird that was on the slip of paper hidden beneath the egg.

Now we will begin scouring printouts from the Cornell Cooperative Extension for our keywords, including habitat, diet and size.

Our finished project will include a portrait of their bird, drawn with the help of Mrs. Hall in art class. They will write a few short sentences detailing their findings from the research process, and complete a PowerPoint slide with information about their bird, as well as a photograph.

We are very proud of our budding ornithologists, and cannot wait to see the results of their hard work!

Yours in Research,
  Mrs. L.
